On a 2017+ F-250 or F-350, most wrong orders come from the bed length. The short bed is the same bed whether a listing calls it 6.75 ft, 6'9" or 6'10". The long bed shows up as 8 ft or 8'2". Short-bed and long-bed covers are different part numbers, so start with your bed and then match the model year.

• 448330, short bed. RealTruck (BAK's parent company) lists it for the 2017-2025 F-250/F-350 6'9" bed. Black Ops Autoworks lists the same part for 2017-2022. We use the narrower 2017-2022; on a 2023 or newer truck, confirm with the seller.
• 448331, 8 ft bed. RealTruck lists it for the 2017-2026 F-250/F-350/F-450 8 ft bed, and Rack Attack lists it for the 2017-2026 F-250/F-350 8'2" bed.

BAK lists aluminum panels over a high-density core, an automatic latch, a 400 lb rating (evenly distributed), a no-drill install it estimates at under 30 minutes, and a 5-year warranty. The warranty applies to the original buyer and doesn't transfer. RealTruck listed the short-bed cover at about $1,250 and the 8 ft cover at about $1,300 today.

BAK rates it at 400 lb distributed, with locking rails, automatic latches and a 5-year limited warranty. Both listings showed about $1,480 today. We only verified the short-bed part. If you have an 8 ft bed, look for the 8 ft listing and confirm its part number before ordering.

The Trifecta 2.0 is a vinyl tri-fold on an aluminum frame, and it is the lowest-priced pick here. Three sellers list 92486 for the Super Duty short bed: RealTruck (2017-2026, 6'9"), H&H Truck Accessories (2017-2027, 6'10") and TDot Performance (2017-2025, 81.9 inch bed). We use 2017-2025.

It folds toward the cab for about two thirds of the bed, and it comes off without tools. Extang lists triple-fin snap-on seals and a limited lifetime warranty on the frame, clamps, hardware and vinyl. RealTruck and Rack Attack both listed it at about $470 today. We did not verify an 8 ft Trifecta part, so long-bed owners should look at the TruXedo Lo Pro 579601 instead.

How to Choose a Tonneau Cover for Your F-250 or F-350

Step 1: Confirm your bed length

Covers are sold by bed length, and listings name the two Super Duty beds in different ways. Use this table to translate:

Step 2: Match your model year

The 2023 Super Duty was redesigned, but cover makers list most of these parts for 2017 through 2025 or 2026. The exception is the short-bed MX4 (448330): RealTruck lists it through 2025, but one seller lists it only through 2022. On a 2023 or newer short bed, confirm your year with the seller first.

Step 3: Check F-450 coverage

The F-450 pickup isn't on every listing. Of the parts above, the MX4 448331 (RealTruck), the Lo Pro 579601 and the Lo Pro 579101 (Waldoch) name the F-450. For any other part, confirm before ordering.

Step 4: Hard or soft

Super Duty beds often carry tools and work gear, which makes a hard cover with an automatic latch (MX4) or locking rails (Revolver X4s) worth considering. If you mainly want weather protection, a soft cover costs well under half as much. Our tonneau cover types guide breaks down the trade-offs.

Step 5: Plan around a fifth-wheel or gooseneck hitch

A fifth-wheel or gooseneck hitch sits in the middle of the bed, so you'll fold, roll or remove the cover every time you hook up. A roll-up (Lo Pro, Revolver X4s) or a cover that comes off quickly (Trifecta 2.0) makes that easier.

All four covers clamp to the bed rails without drilling. BAK estimates under 30 minutes for the MX4 and under an hour for the Revolver X4s. Will a 2017-2022 Super Duty tonneau cover fit a 2023 or newer F-250?

For most of the covers here, the maker lists the same part number from 2017 through 2025 or 2026. Seller listings don't always agree, though: one lists the short-bed BAKFlip MX4 only through 2022. Check the listing for your exact year.

Is the F-250 short bed 6.75 ft, 6'9" or 6'10"?

They're the same bed. Cover makers and retailers round the measurement differently. One listing gives it as 81.9 inches. The long bed is listed as 8 ft or 8'2".

Do F-250 and F-350 use the same tonneau cover?

Can I tow a fifth-wheel or gooseneck with a tonneau cover on?
